This is how much fun you'll have.Collapse )

hoorah. [29 Nov 2004|07:58pm]

Well now.

Does anyone else think that our school might be at an all time low?
Our true colors came out recently during the presidential election.
People treating each other like they forgot they were
decent human beings, arguing about things based on zero information,
changing your opinions about friends based on who they supported.
Completely disgusting.
And yet, utterly laughable.

Also all of this drug nonsense. My sister works for the narcotics department here in Jacksonville, and informed me that they were really focusing on cleaning
up Bishop Kenny. I thought maybe kids would be smarter, but a lot of them
just got asked to leave. Hopefully it shows how serious they really are being.
And hopefully people will just leave it at home.

Anyways. Lots of stress coming with Midterms.
Did you know if you dont review something within 7 to 8
hours from when you learned it, you practically forget
that info like you never learned it at all. Just a thought kiddos.

Happy Holidays.

ATTENTION! [17 Nov 2004|06:18pm]

I saw Argie's recent update and I realized that I needed to do the same.

Journalism classes are selling Chik-Fil-A calendars.
This is a very important fundraiser, help support the Shield (even though i know a lot of people don't read it, you have no idea how much effort goes into it...).

Plus, the cows are very cool.
Even better, the calendar costs $5 and there is over $20 worth of coupons inside.

So everybody wins right?

Contact me if you would like to buy one!

Hey guys. I've got to do the shameless promotion thing again.

Art Club
Holiday Card

The Bishop Kenny Art Club is having their first annual holiday card fundraiser. The club recently purchased pumpkins and pumpkin carving sets to help decorate the Jacksonville Zoo Spooktacular.  This fundraiser will help replenish the funds used to purchase the supplies and pumpkins, so that the Art Club can continue contributing to the Jacksonville community.

Each order will consist of sixteen holiday greeting cards. There are four cards for every design in the set. The total cost of one set is $20.00. Payments can be made by cash or check (payable to BKHS Art Club).

Thank you for your generous donations. Happy Holidays!

To see the designs, see an Art Club member or Mrs. Holechek in room 302. All payments are due by Friday at the end of the day.

Don't drop the soap.

Disclaimer: venting at the political actions of Bishop Kenny students [02 Nov 2004|08:08pm]

[ mood | annoyed ]

As a whole, I have come to realize Bishop Kenny students are quite corrupt.

Big deal, it's election day, the majority of us at school CAN'T VOTE, and I HIGHLY doubt what you say to me is going to change my view. I am not sorry for what I was raised to believe in. I support Bush as our President wholeheartedly. I believe he will do what is best for us. But when someone comes along who I agree with on my own beliefs, I am going to support them in their run for President. So to the BK students? That's great that most of you love Bush so much and want him to win. I support your decision to even be active in the politics going on. But just because I go against the grain so to speak and am not afraid to express my OPINION rationally when it comes up, does not give you the right to trash talk political leaders of our country like there aren't people sitting right there who could be a bit offended. And DURING class. School for me is not a place to be critisized for my view on polictics. I do not in ANY way dislike any of you for supporting Bush...yet people are telling me they "hate" me for supporting Kerry? People who I don't even know?? Lovely. I have to put up with people telling ME that our country is going to hell because of who I support. Thanks, I didn't tell you my opinion so don't shove yours in my face. Honestly what am I going to do about it anyways?

So, what gets me... I go out to my car today, minding my own business, and there is a Bush sticker over my Kerry one. On MY car. That is pushing it, my friends. I am fully entitled to my opinion and I don't care if you don't like it. I let you have yours and I have said NOTHING disrespectful about Bush in any way about his decisions thus far, unlike what I hear from the mouths of my peers everyday. So please, keep your political views to yourself or at least don't force them upon me. Completely disrespectful and rude. I have almost never been so astonished at Catholic school students in my life.

[11 Oct 2004|05:23pm]

hey guys

as you may know we have been praying
for J.T. Townsend since Friday because of his
neck injury.
They thought it might be alright because there
weren't any broken bones. Although he has
a shattered wind pipe and can't
really communicate.
As of NOW (things may change) J.T.
is probably going to be a paraplegic.

I ask that you all continue
to pray for him and his family.
It must be a very devastating time
for them, and I hope that our prayers
can bring them some, if any kind of comfort.

God Bless,

For those amongst us who do not watch the news, but simply live and breath this wonderful community, this is what Our school says:

Bishop Kenny Closed Friday

It's not that I don't love Bishop Kenny... it's just that I love 4 day weekends a bit more than 3 day weekends.  Uh...Hurricanes are fun too, right? : /

For those of you who don't have Mrs. Starling or just haven't heard, we're not having a Winter Formal this year. Instead, we're having a Fall Formal. It'll be the week before Homecoming, as sort of a kick off for Homecoming Week. Winter Formal is usually at the end of January, and since we have the Superbowl the week after, the prices of everything around that time would be jacked up. Especially for renting a place to have it. Also, it was getting to be too close to Prom.

So, if you hear about Fall Formal, don't wait around for Winter Formal because we won't be having it.

Hope everyone's had a great 2 days of school so far.

I realize this. [14 Aug 2004|06:14pm]

[ mood | relaxed ]

So I bet you're wondering: Argie, how's school?

I guess I'm excited about having something to do. I don't focus on the social aspect of school as much as I used to. People are okay.. but I'm not going to bust my butt trying to make new friends. Grades are most important to me this year, and I have that set in my mind. I don't know about my goal to be on track-- first and foremost will be my grades. BUT I'LL STILL HAVE A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE :D

In regards to my community (yes, MY community), kenny_kids, I have this to say: Keep joining. Keep it coming. Stay. I see nothing wrong with our community, free speech, and getting to know fellow students just a little bit more. We don't talk about drugs or alcohol, and although we have our complaints here and there, we are good kids. I do my part in moderating the community, and I'm going to try to make sure no "perverts" seep in. I honestly don't know what the big deal is: kenny_kids is not affiliated with the school. I plan on seeing the deans about this, because it should NOT be a big deal!

And if you still see a problem with it, Administration, have at me! I've already lost my money and gotten over it; I could probably take a central or two.

Dean's speech [12 Aug 2004|11:43pm]

Did anyone else notice the "Do not bring drugs to school?" It was like he was saying, "Leave your drugs at home." Hah. And weekly uniform checks? What, is that gonna be like last year when they had teachers stand in the halls and issue pink slips?

Oh well. I survived Ms. Starling last year and I bet I can survive nine more months of school this year.
